The Wiire Is Dead?

So this is an interesting post to say the least and you’re probably wondering what The Wiire is. Well it’s a Wii centric news website. Now how is this postworthy? Well it was somewhat a part of my life that got me through high school. Every week of summer school I would get to listen to The Wiire podcast and be able to get through the day. That was about 5 years ago. If you go and listen to my podcast Ian Mikatel, The Wiire’s owner/host, was a featured guest in episode three.

Just an hour ago I saw that The Wiire’s website was down stating “This Account Has Been Suspended”. It came as no surprise since there was no activity from the site via podcasts or updates on news. Then two of the staff went out on their blogs and forums stating that they quit the website to many board member’s dismay. Now this is understandable seeing how much of a cult following The Wiire had, especially on their forum boards. But now there will be no witty podcasts and no more “Things Nintendo Heads Said”. I would think that it would be right to say that it is a sad day for video game journalism.

If you would like to go check out The Wiire the only place now is their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/thewiire . If you would like to see The Wiire come back I would say try posting there. But sometimes things have to end the way you never wanted.  Perhaps one of my future comics will feature The Wiire. Oh well thats life, time to move on.
